Due to ongoing operational requirements, an exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Materials Coordinator to join their Operations team based in Rydalmere, NSW.
Reporting to the Manager – Service Coordination, this position is responsible for the effective and efficient coordination of materials required to support service jobs, manufacturing activities and broader operational requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure materials are available when required, manufacturing work orders are effectively managed, and operational delivery requirements are achieved.
Role Tasks & Duties
The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Coordinate the movement and availability of materials required for service jobs, manufacturing activities and operational requirements.
- Ensure materials are available to maintain workflow and support agreed customer delivery schedules and production timeframes.
- Open, maintain, monitor and close manufacturing work orders as required.
- Raise and manage RFQs, purchase requisitions and online orders for consumables, materials and third-party services.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to coordinate material requirements and ensure agreed delivery expectations are achieved.
- Monitor material availability and proactively identify potential supply constraints or delays.
- Escalate material-related issues including shortages, damaged materials, quality concerns and delivery delays.
- Prepare, update and maintain relevant material registers, operational reports, records and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate information within relevant MRP / ERP systems.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, suppliers, subcontractors and customers.
- Professionally resolve material and supply-related issues and negotiate favourable operational outcomes where required.
- Support the achievement of business performance objectives, operational delivery timeframes and customer satisfaction requirements.
- Maintain and coordinate the supply room, ensuring materials and consumables are organised and appropriately managed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S activities.
- Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with company EHS, Quality, safety and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Take ownership of allocated responsibilities and proactively support the wider Operations team.
- Be willing to work outside standard business hours when operationally required.
- Undertake domestic or international travel where required.
- Perform additional duties as reasonably required to support business and operational needs.
Required Skills, Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing, service, materials, supply chain or similar operational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Previous experience coordinating materials, inventory, purchasing, procurement or manufacturing requirements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working with MRP / ERP systems within a manufacturing, engineering, service or supply chain environment.
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors and internal operational stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, escalate and assist in resolving material shortages, quality issues and delivery delays.
- Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when maintaining work orders, registers, reports and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment and manage changing priorities.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a broader Operations team.
- Professional approach to stakeholder management, issue resolution and negotiation.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
Desirables
- Qualification in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within the rail, transport, engineering, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Experience working within a Lean manufacturing or 5S environment.
- Current First Aid and/or Fire Warden certification, or willingness to obtain relevant certifications.
