Inventory Controller – Mining & Heavy Industry (Wacol, QLD)
We are currently seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join a leading organisation in the mining and heavy industry sector. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, parts, and consumables to support production and maintenance activities across workshop operations.
This is a Monday–Friday position based in Wacol, offering flexibility with a 5:00am or 6:00am start. The role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with excellent hourly rates of $45–$48 p/h depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage site-based materials, consumables, PPE, and inventory levels to meet operational needs.
  • Parts receiving, booking, storage, and issuing through ERP systems (SAP/Oracle experience highly regarded)
  • Coordinate goods in/out processes, including subcontractor items.
  • Conduct stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Support technicians with parts preparation and billable tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Operate forklift and overhead crane to move parts, materials, and equipment safely.
  • Manage calibration schedules for equipment and maintain chemical register compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prevent stock outs and reduce excess inventory.
  • Provide timely reporting on material availability, shortages, and consumption.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace policies.
Skills & Experience
  • Current LF Forklift Licence – essential
  • Experience with overhead crane operations – essential
  • 5+ years’ experience in inventory control, materials management or procurement within a heavy industrial/mining/fabrication environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proven experience in stock control, forecasting, and supplier/subcontractor management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles or Six Sigma advantageous
