With a new customer site being established in Broadmeadows, Victoria, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join the team and play an important role in the successful installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of the site’s automated equipment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the project from the ground up, gain hands-on experience with advanced automation technology and transition into a permanent maintenance position once the site becomes operational.

The Role
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will initially work alongside the Projects team during the installation and commissioning phase of the customer’s new facility.
During this phase, your primary focus will be supporting the installation of the company’s automation equipment, assisting with equipment assembly, component installation, testing and commissioning activities.
Once the project is completed and the site transitions into operations, you will move into the site’s maintenance team and rotating 12-hour shift roster, responsible for ensuring the ongoing reliability, availability and performance of the automation systems.
This role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge of automated material-handling systems while working closely with experienced project, engineering and maintenance personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
Project & Installation Phase

  • Support the Projects team with the installation of automation equipment at the new customer site.
  • Install, connect and replace electrical components and equipment as required.
  • Assist with the installation of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, power supplies and other automation components.
  • Assist with equipment testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Identify installation issues and work collaboratively with project and engineering teams to resolve them.
  • Complete installation documentation, reports and project records.
  • Comply with all relevant OH&S requirements, site procedures and company policies.

Ongoing Maintenance Phase
Following completion of the project, you will transition into the site’s maintenance team and undertake:

  • Plan and execute mechanical planned preventative maintenance of automation equipment.
  • Perform daily system audits.
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical breakdown maintenance.
  • Inspect and replace hard-wired gear motors and power supplies.
  • Undertake electrical and mechanical repairs and component replacements.
  • Generate reports for both internal and external stakeholders within agreed timelines.
  • Compile monthly management reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities to optimize systems, collaborating closely with team members and other departments.
  • Complete breakdown reports, shift logs, and issue logs in accordance with internal protocols.
  • Adhere to Australian, as well as internal and external OH&S regulations.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A Grade Electrical Licence.
  • Previous experience maintaining equipment within an engineering, automation, manufacturing or industrial environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance or commissioning.
  • Experience with component removal, installation and refitting.
  • Experience working with conveyors, belts, motors and gearboxes would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to work a rotating 12-hour shift roster once the site becomes operational.

Desirable:

  • Experience with automated material-handling systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and automated control systems.
  • Previous commissioning experience.
  • Experience working within large-scale logistics, manufacturing or distribution environments.
