Job description

Join our NSW State Government partner as an Engagement Officer where you will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive communication and stakeholder engagement services. You will collaborate closely with communication managers and officers to ensure the effective implementation of strategies across community consultation, customer information, issues management, and digital communication. Your contribution will directly support the achievement of our business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Integrated Communications Management: Work alongside communication managers and officers to develop and maintain a regional communications project list and calendar. Ensure timely and budgeted delivery of communication activities.
  • Strategy Development: Create communication and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, identifying educational and promotional content to meet community engagement requirements effectively.
  • Event Coordination and Evaluation: Plan, coordinate, and evaluate events, workshops, campaigns, and community consultation activities. Maximize engagement and gather feedback through digital strategies and other channels.
  • Community Education Initiatives: Support the implementation of community education and capacity-building initiatives. Facilitate meetings and forums to enhance community participation in Maritime projects.
  • Government Collaboration: Participate in NSW Government communities of practice to improve communication service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Cultivate collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including community groups and associations, to ensure effective communication and engagement practices.
  • Administrative Support: Manage branch administration tasks such as approval processes, invoicing, and reporting on communication activities to support business objectives.
  • State-wide Initiatives: Collaborate with program leaders to manage community consultation and education initiatives, aligning with stakeholder management priorities.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in communication and stakeholder engagement roles, preferably within a government or public sector environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
  • Experience in event coordination and digital communication strategies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of issues management and community consultation techniques.
