WHS Safety Advisor

Role Description Primary purpose of this position would be to provide advice, training, consultation, monitoring and governance to the company and to ensure than all relevant WH&S legislation, company policies and procedures are adhered to. This person would be seen to provide specialist advise to management and all personnel in all levels of the business. Background Rail and construction qualifications experience Safety knowledge that will understanding sign off processes and how to complete the requests, who we need to interface with, to advising to the GM what's required.
  • Experience in creating and developing safety management plans that would include SWMS, risk assessments, risk registers and implement safety procedures for office and onsite site works
  • Extensive knowledge of the rail safety regulatory environment, safety change management and safety management systems.
  • High level of skill in developing complex plans and analyses for internal and external audiences.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders about the delivery of project-critical outcomes.
  • High level of skill in document development, report writing and interpretation
  • Creating site safety specific document requirements for the installation works for each site.
  • Liaise with and advise personnel regarding mitigation and management of risks and hazards
  • Conduct a range of inspection related activities including high risk activities, Rail Safety Compliance Inspections, Health and Safety Works etc.
  • Communicate with installation site supervisors to ensure scope of works and protection arrangements are compatible
  • Assist in reporting, investigating and implementing corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work-related illness/injury.
  • Attend Site Safety meeting as and when required
  • Provide ongoing WHS advice to Supervisors, Contractors and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Identify areas for improvement, review and ensure compliance to Environmental Management procedures.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and/or audits of installation staff and Subcontractor activities.
  • Knowledge regarding SMIC requirements
  • Assist in writing or reviewing complex and simple WHS policies and WHS procedures.
  • Possess RIW/Pegasus and White cards would be a bonus
