Testing & Commissioning Senior Engineer

Looking for a Senior Signalling Engineer who will manage the design, installation and testing and commissioning of a Signalling Systems fproject.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review the Contractor’s design, installation and testing and commissioning submissions and safety case and assist in resolving critical issues when required.
  • Review the interfacing parties’ design submission and assist in resolving critical interface design issues when required.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and relevant government statutory bodies for the design and design standard establishment for Signalling, including the SMA, etc. Ensure all legitimate requirements from other parties are properly incorporated.
  • Prepare design reports to be submitted to SMA / Independent Certifier
  • Prepare papers on design issues/problems, analyse and evaluate options to provide recommendations to senior management for consideration and endorsement.
  • Provide engineering support as well as design audit / review to construction management teams (either MTR or contractor) on all design issues related to the Signalling system.
  • Witness tests carried out by contractors
  • Review test reports submitted by contractors and prepare reports to be submitted to SMA / Independent Certifier.
  • Support integrated tests carried out by MTR system integration testing team.
  • Assist Signalling Manger to identify and manage project risks, review modification requests and contract administration.

  • A recognised Bachelor engineering degree in electrical, electronic, communication, computer, Mechatronics or software engineering; (or similar)
  • A diploma in signalling (recognized by the Institution of railway Signal Engineers); 
  • A recognised engineering degree in mechanical (to be assigned to installation related design and testing tasks.); or
  • Associate Member of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers
  • Chartered Engineer, Chartered Professional Engineer, or Registered Professional Engineer in relevant disciplines is preferred.
  • 10 years previous experiences in design, installation and testing roles of a metro railway signalling project and 4 years in team leading and/or managerial roles; and
  • Experiences in design, installation or commissioning stages of Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) projects.  
  • Good knowledge on signalling principles and principles of automatic train control
  • Good understanding on operation principles of signalling equipment / sub-systems
  • Good understanding on track alignment and / or headway simulation
  • Good understanding to signalling to key system interfaces (PSD and Trains)
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
