About the Role:

This role is based out in Brisbane working on a 24/7 rolling shift schedule to provide diagnostics, rectification and post work testing and improvements of systems to achieve and exceed performance obligations. Technical Specialist / ISST (In Service Support Technician) personnel will be ultimately responsible for fault finding, diagnostics, rectification & post work testing, root cause analysis and continuous improvement of the systems to achieve and exceed performance obligations and shall perform the ISST role based at the Operations Control Centre where calls from Drivers shall be taken, technical advice given, short term plans agreed, and work scheduled in Maximo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shall perform a supervisory role in testing and post maintenance service checks
  • Perform fault diagnosis and identification on both the electrical and mechanical systems of the vehicle.
  • Monitor fleet performance using on-board diagnostics and remote monitoring systems and provide KPI’s as required on critical systems such as HVAC, Toilets, Doors etc
  • Perform vehicle modifications as required.
  • Update the Maintenance Management System with all work carried out
  • Perform Static and Dynamic testing on MU’s.
  • Perform continuity and insulation testing on vehicles.
  • Perform functionality test of equipment on vehicles
  • Communicate issues and proposed solutions internally and externally
  • Provide accurate fault and diagnostic data/reports to facilitate early resolution of issues.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant Engineering, trade, certificate, or tertiary qualifications
  • At least 5yrs experience in vehicle system specialism, fault finding, T&C, maintenance, modifications, continuous improvement, and reliability growth management.
  • Previous experience and understanding of the rail industry and rail vehicles is essential.
  • RIW and SARC (desirable)
  • Training qualification 
  • Logical, pragmatic person
  • Ability to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Able to communicate technical terms to non-technical people
