Systems Assurance Manager

The role of Principal Consultant in the Systems Engineering & Assurance area will be accountable to the Technical Director- Systems Engineering and Assurance. Duties include:
  • Act as a principal technical consultant for assignment delivery to the contractual requirements
  • Assignment performance to client satisfaction
  • Manage a team that provides clear and robust Systems Engineering solutions through a detailed understanding of complex transport infrastructure projects & programmes including Tunnel systems, Rolling Stock, Signalling & Train Control (ETCS, CBTC, ATP etc), Operations & Maintenance.
  • Manage client relationships related to assignments
  • Lead development of innovative ideas which deliver service and product growth, client satisfaction improvement or operational performance improvement and for championing the implementation of those ideas.
  • Add technical expertise to large, complex and strategically important bids and proposals for projects across Australia,
  • Contribute to the growth strategy for the national SE/SA team including proactively seeking and managing major opportunities.
  • Encourage team working and collaboration through open and transparent communication where individuals are empowered to share accountability within a project team.
  • Undertake project and consulting delivery as directed by the Digital Services/Functional Lead
  • Support the identification of key clients and relevant industry interfaces

Experience required:
  • 10 years industry experience in the application of system engineering disciplines and management.
  • Principal Systems Engineering experience within the Transport sector with proven experience in client-side leadership positions such as a Technical Advisor and/or Systems Engineering / Assurance Manager
  • A thorough knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and practices and Systems Engineering tools such as IBM, Rational DOORS, MBSE tools etc.
  • Ability to lead across the whole life cycle of a project from inception to steady state operation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Prior experience in a technical consultancy, comfortable in client facing roles and delivering to customer’s expectations.
  • Chartered Engineering
  • Active Membership of a professional body
  • Leading practitioner with profound knowledge of relevant System Integration / Engineering disciplines and techniques.
  • Demonstrable appetite for influencing outcomes (including how they are reached) within the delivery of large and complex projects.
  • A strong reputation and network of contacts amongst clients and peers within the Australian Rail and System Engineering fraternity.
  • Good technical, leadership and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent reporting and written skills
  • Excellent mentoring skills, particularly relevant to the coaching and development of the younger members of the team.
