My Client has an opening for a Senior Safety Assurance Engineer to support the Safety Team on a large Rail project in Sydney.

 Job Description Responsibilities of the Position

  • Generate and review Safety Assurance Plans that lay out processes and requirements on Safety Assurance for projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop and review Safety Assurance Statements & Reports to justify achievement of Safety So Far As is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP).
  • Develop, manage and review Hazard Logs / Risk Register for recording Hazards / Risks associated with different project scopes.
  • Plan, organise for and facilitate Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System & Interface Hazard Analysis (SHA & IHA) and Operations and Support Hazard Analysis (OSHA
  • Conduct Safety / Risk Assessments concerning design modifications and / or nonconformances using Safety Change Management processes.
  • Construct and review Safety Arguments utilising the Goal Structure Notation (GSN) and ensure alignment with Safety Assurance Reports.
  • Engage in the derivation of Safety related requirements and in Verifying and Validating them through relevant project lifecycle stages.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholder on a day to day basis and respond to technical and non-technical related observations and queries concerning Safety Assurance.
 Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications & Training

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline;
  • Relevant experience working within Safety Assurance in a transport environment (RAIL PREFERRED);
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills;
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills.
 

Experience

  • 10 years previous experience in a similar role/industry
Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines;
  • Sound understanding of Safety Awareness Assessment – Development.
