Exciting opportunity for a seasoned Rail safety expert to join a major tier 1 company as a Senior HSE Advisor in Melbourne’s Inner West!

My client is an Australian renowned and main player in the Rail and Heavy Maintenance industry. They have many locations throughout Australia and have continued to go from strength to strength and expand, thus creating a rare opportunity to join their highly dynamic team based in Spotswood, VIC.

This is a permanent, full time role and as Senior HSE Advisor, you will be an integral part of the facility and will see you lead and support the site in all aspects of effective implementation of WHS, Rail Safety, Workers Compensation & Injury Management, and Environmental (HSE) processes and systems to continually improve safety and environmental performance and meet legal and company standards.

You will be the first point of contact to provide advice, and will see you mentoring and coaching on WHS, rail safety, worker’s compensation, and environmental compliance matters, as well as assisting in identifying and implementing best practice solutions to prevent incidents.

As Senior HSE Advisor, you will be ensuring governance processes are implemented to assist management in ensuring the HSE legal and business requirements are being met, and injuries appropriately classified and managed.

Skills and experience needed to be successful in the role:
  • Have a minimum 7 years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environmental role in High-Risk industry
  • Have Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or greater) in a Workplace Safety and Health related discipline preferred
  • Possess Cert IV Training and Assessment, be Incident Investigation Trained (ICAM preferable) and Internal WHS Auditor (Lead Auditor training advantageous)
  • Have ‘Return to work’ Coordinator Training
  • Have thorough knowledge of AS 4801, ISO 9001/14001, ISO31000
  • Have strong computer literacy and communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email
  • Must have full and current work rights in either Australia or New Zealand (Visa sponsorship is not available).
