If you have answered yes then we are extremely pleased to offer the opportunity of a full-time role with our valued Rail Client based at Wulkuraka west of Ipswich.  

Mechanical fitters are required for these full-time perm roles. While previous experience in the maintenance of rolling stock or Loco's is preferable our client will also consider experience from the Defence, Aviation, Heavy Industrial and Mining sectors.

Working in a rotating roster over 11–12-hour shifts. The primary function of the roles is to maintain Queensland’s New Generation Rolling Stock (QNGR). Duties will see you involved in both corrective and preventative maintenance as well as modification activities across the whole fleet of 75 trains.

Interviews will take place ASAP as medicals and SARC, Fatigue management and other compliance courses will need to be completed prior to commencement. We can only consider those that are flexible and can do the rotating shifts.

Key Responsibilities for these Roles Includes:

  • Perform fault diagnosis, identification, and rectification on the mechanical systems of the train.
  • Carry out routine examinations according to the Technical Maintenance Plan.
  • Support in service faults with technical advice to support the Depot Team Leader as required and provide a high level of focus to ensure that fleet performance and reliability targets are achieved and improved.
  • Perform technical modifications as necessary
  • Perform post work testing and validation as necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Mechanical Fitter Licence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good fault-finding skills and the ability to ‘own a problem’.
  • Previous experience in the maintenance of rolling stock is preferable but not essential.
