About the role
These positions form a key component of the Service team and as such you may be assigned to one of the various workshops. You will be primarily responsible for the maintenance; fault finding and overhaul of locomotive parts and or engines.

Skills and experience:
    • Trade Certificate Mechanical Fitter or Diesel Fitter.
    • Prior experience working within locomotive repair overhaul is advantageous.
    • Previous knowledge and understanding of diesel locomotive and or heavy plant engines is desirable to be considered in the Engine workshop.
    • Fitting and Turning CNC experience mandatory to be considered in the Engine workshop.
    • Locomotive, Rollingstock, Heavy Industrial Plant experience mandatory to be considered in the other workshops.
    • Ability to fault find and utilise trouble-shooting skills.
    • Forklift licence, overhead crane driver and dogger ticket required or the willingness to obtain if successful.
    • Ability to work unsupervised and be a hands-on team player.
    • Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks, be flexible and resourceful, proactive, and professional in manner with a high degree of initiative and strong communication skills.
    • Previous experience within a heavy maintenance environment.

    • Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance principals
    • Perform scheduled maintenance on locomotives and equipment and ensure that all tasks are performed in accordance with relevant maintenance documentation.
