2XM Recruit are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic / Fitter to join a reputable company based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne VIC. 

Our client engineers, manufactures and provides operational and maintenance solutions within the rail industry.  It’s equipment is fitted extensively to a range of vehicles and mobile plants, welding equipment and services, Colmar rail machines and Neotec rail products.

We are looking to find an enthusiastic, self-motivated, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with experience of working on heavy vehicles, mobile equipment. Rail guidance systems (hyrail) would be advantageous to join its team based at Truganina in Victoria.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Building or assembling machines and mechanical components according to drawings, specifications, and requirements
  • Maintenance and call-out support of heavy vehicles, mobile equipment, rail guidance systems (preferred)
  • Certification and testing of equipment to Australian / Industry standards
  • Diagnostics / fault finding, repair and maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Working autonomously when required
To be successful in this role:

  • Relevant Trade Certificate - Heavy Diesel Mechanic
  • Field service and on-site breakdown diagnostic experience is essential for heavy and mobile equipment
  • Experience in the rail industry, specifically working with and maintaining rail guidance systems will be highly regarded
  • Qualifications or experience working with hydraulics, auto electrics and pneumatics will be highly regarded
  • A genuine commitment to workplace safety
All Applicants:

  • Ideally have a MR licence or higher or be willing to attain such asap.
  • Willingness to travel and work interstate if required
  • Willing to be on call when required. Including weekends as required.
  • Occasional night work may be necessary
