I am currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager, with solid rail and leadership experience for a permanent position with my client, a tier 1, globally renowned company.

This role will be based within their New Zealand business, on site in  Auckland.

Working on this prestigious and innovative project, you will be an integral part in helping to shape Auckland’s rail transport to the highest level for years to come.

Reporting to the Assets & Maintenance Manager, your role includes liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders/customers, including operational personnel, service providers, contractors, and members of the public.

You possess a proven, successful background in managing and leading exceptional teams within high profile projects in all aspects of rolling stock lifecycle maintenance - Your key aim is to ensure the ongoing alignment of rollingstock activities with industry best practice, and that they are compliant with applicable railway industry standards as well as strive to continually improve them.

You will also be tasked to manage proposals and approved enhancement and optimization of projects, thus be able to deliver financial and operation outcomes (when required), and timely performance and reliability objectives, whilst continuing to report and act on any technical issues impacting the rollingstock fleet.

The idea candidate:

  • Holds a Degree, or appropriate engineering trade qualifications.
  • Has extensive experience and background within rolling stock maintenance.
  • Possesses a minimum of 10 years’ experience in leadership roles and is an individual who can support change.
  • Is a keen collaborator with a high level of knowledge of asset management, reliability engineering & procurement standards and processes.
  • Has the ability to forge and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
  • Has exceptional communication skills, including strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Has the ability to work independently, can organise and prioritise demands as well as handle multiple complex tasks.
  • Has the proven ability to manage and successfully deliver engineering activities with a dedicated small team of multi-faceted engineers a small team.
