An opportunity is now available for an experienced Mechanical Warranty Technician to join the team in Dubbo NSW, supporting the ongoing warranty, corrective maintenance and reliability requirements of a modern regional passenger rail fleet.
Working within a highly safety-focused rail environment, you’ll play a key role in ensuring rolling stock remains safe, reliable and operational through effective fault finding, maintenance, repair and component replacement.
The Role:
Working as part of the rolling stock maintenance team, you’ll undertake corrective and warranty maintenance across mechanical and pneumatic systems, including:
- Carrying out corrective maintenance across passenger rolling stock in accordance with maintenance schedules, procedures and production requirements.
- Fault finding, diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and pneumatic system defects.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
- Inspecting rolling stock bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear, damage and defects.
- Repairing and replacing mechanical components and assemblies.
- Inspecting, maintaining and repairing braking and coupling systems.
- Dismantling, testing, repairing and reassembling mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Completing inspections, testing and quality checks in accordance with applicable rail standards.
- Recording maintenance activities and updating the Maintenance Management System.
- Recording parts and material movements associated with maintenance activities.
- Completing maintenance reports and technical documentation accurately.
- Supporting fleet reliability and availability requirements.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant WHS, quality and environmental requirements.
- Completing additional maintenance duties as reasonably required by management.

What You Need:
- Australian-recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification / Certificate III or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and repair capabilities.
- Experience dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to complete maintenance reports and technical documentation accurately.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic maintenance management systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a maintenance team.
- Reliable, professional and safety-focused approach.
- Ability and willingness to work rostered shift work.
Highly Regarded:
- Previous rolling stock or rail maintenance experience.
- Previous experience within the aviation, transport, heavy engineering or similar safety-critical industry.
- Mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding experience.
- Experience maintaining braking and coupling systems.
- Previous exposure to electrical maintenance or electrical fault finding.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Previous experience working within a highly regulated maintenance environment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Successful applicants may be required to complete relevant rail industry pre-employment requirements, including:
- Rail Medical Assessment.
- Drug & Alcohol Screening.
- National Police Check.
- Relevant site and rail safety inductions.
- Full Australian working rights.
