Fitter / Service Technician

Due to continued business growth, an exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician to join their highly skilled Service Centre team based in Smithfield, NSW. The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Disassemble mechanical equipment for inspection, servicing and repair.
- Diagnose faults and prepare detailed inspection reports outlining repair requirements and replacement components.
- Reassemble equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturer procedures.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of repaired equipment to ensure operational performance and quality standards are achieved.
- Complete service documentation, repair reports and testing records accurately.
- Utilise a wide range of hand and power tools whilst applying sound mechanical fitting principles.
- Attend customer sites to install, commission, troubleshoot and repair company equipment as required.
- Provide technical support to customers during breakdowns and planned maintenance activities.
- Work safely at all times in accordance with company WHS policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high workshop standards.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills, Experience & Competencies
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience servicing, repairing or overhauling rotating machinery or similar industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings and specifications.
- Sound computer literacy with the ability to complete electronic service reports.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Current Australian Drivers Licence.
- Current Forklift Licence (highly regarded).
- Previous overhead crane experience is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
