Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (flexibility on these)

About the Role:
Operating in the first and second home buyer market across Perth, our client is a growing residential builder with ambitious plans over the next three years. With a number of homes currently under construction and a strong suite of base home designs, they are starting the journey of bringing their drafting and design functions in-house.
 
This position will see you join as their first in-house Draftsperson. Reporting directly to the Director, you will take ownership of the drafting process from end to end, working on brand new base home designs and, custom residential projects typically valued between $375k and $500k.
 
As the business expands, this role offers a clear pathway to grow into a Drafting Management/Leadership position.
 
The role will suit a technically strong, self-motivated professional who enjoys a dynamic environment, takes pride in high-quality documentation, and is excited by the prospect of building a function from the ground up.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • In-House Drafting Ownership: Produce accurate, high-quality working drawings and documentation for residential projects (first and second home buyer range).
  • Process & Standard Development: Help establish in-house drafting standards, templates, and workflows as functions transition from outsourced models.
  • Design & Plan Revisions: Modify base home designs and work on custom client variations efficiently.
  • New Base Home Designs: Design, critique and propose brand new home base designs for the company catalogue.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with estimating, site managers, and external consultants to resolve technical queries and ensure buildability.
  • Compliance & Approvals: Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, council regulations, and Australian standards.
  • Future Leadership: Help set the foundation for the drafting department with a vision to mentor and lead future junior team members as the business grows.

 
What You’ll Need:

  • 3+ years of proven drafting experience within the Australian residential building sector.
  • Strong proficiency in either ArchiCAD or Revit (essential).
  • Sound technical knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, and council approval processes.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and establish structured drafting workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High-level communication skills with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.
