HSE Advisor – Civil Construction

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Salary: $120,000 + Super
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Company Our client is a well-established civil construction contractor delivering infrastructure projects across South East Queensland. With a strong pipeline of work spanning roads, subdivisions, earthworks, utilities, and infrastructure upgrades, they are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support project teams and promote a positive safety culture across multiple sites.

The Opportunity Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will work closely with operational teams to ensure safety systems are effectively implemented, maintained, and continuously improved. This is a hands-on role requiring regular site presence and engagement with supervisors, subcontractors, and project personnel.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving compliance, supporting incident investigations, and fostering a proactive approach to workplace health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HSE support across civil construction projects.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and workplace observations.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HSE management systems.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and safety briefings.
  • Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses, identifying corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Support risk assessments, SWMS reviews and project-specific safety documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with company procedures, client requirements and legislative obligations.
  • Assist in the development of a strong safety culture through coaching and mentoring operational teams.
  • Prepare HSE reports and maintain accurate project records.

About You

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).
  • Previous experience in a HSE Advisor role within civil construction.
  • Exposure to roads, earthworks, utilities, infrastructure, rail or TMR projects highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of Queensland WHS legislation and construction safety requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with site teams and influence positive safety behaviours.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and White Card.

Desirable

  • ICAM Investigation Training.
  • Environmental management exposure.
  • Experience working on TMR or major infrastructure projects.
