HSE Advisor
About the Role We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join a growing civil construction team delivering infrastructure projects across South East Queensland. This role will be based in Brisbane’s western suburbs and will support project teams to maintain a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with legislative, client, and company requirements.
Experience working on civil infrastructure projects, particularly those involving Transport and Main Roads (TMR) standards and specifications, will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HSE support across civil construction projects.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE systems and procedures.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and safety training initiatives.
- Support project teams in hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of control measures.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Lead and support incident investigations using ICAM methodology.
- Monitor compliance with relevant WHS legislation, company policies, and client requirements..
About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor position within civil construction, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of Queensland WHS legislation and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations using ICAM methodology.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to influence positive safety outcomes across all levels of a business.
- Strong administrative and reporting capabilities.
Highly Desirable
- Experience working on projects governed by Transport and Main Roads (TMR) requirements.
- Exposure to road, earthworks, utilities, bridge, or major infrastructure projects.
- Internal Auditor qualifications.
- Return to Work Coordinator certification.
