The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Manager to lead on-site service and support operations within a highly automated customer distribution facility in Melbourne.
This role is ideally suited to a proven operations leader with experience managing technical teams in manufacturing, distribution, production, or automated logistics facilities.
You will oversee daily site operations, manage technical service delivery, develop and mentor site personnel, and act as the key operational interface between the business and the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the resident site team
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication and service excellence
- Manage reactive repairs and maintenance activities within agreed timeframes
- Develop team capability through coaching, training, and performance management
- Manage operational budgets, reporting, and resource allocation
- Coordinate on-site spare parts and resource planning
- Support recruitment activities in collaboration with HR and leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and optimisation activities
- Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You
You are a confident operational leader with strong technical and commercial awareness and a passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
You will bring:
- Experience within the engineering, automation, or logistics industry
- Operational experience in a distribution or warehouse environment
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance or technical teams
- Financial and commercial management experience including budgeting and reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- The ability to work autonomously while leading and motivating others
- A commitment to safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Desirable
- Electrical, mechanical, or engineering trade/qualification
- Experience working in high-volume automated facilities
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and automated equipment
