Rail Component Workshop Service Technician.
Company Overview:
Our Valued Rail services client is one of the largest integrated and diversified suppliers of railroad and transit system products and services in Australia.
An opportunity exists for a Service Technician who is accountable to for ensuring that all overhauls, repairs, testing and all other service related activities are performed in a safe and efficient manger in accordance with all relevant company procedures and instructions.
Role Tasks & Duties:
The role includes but not limited to:
- Overhaul, repair and test all company product rages such as air compressors, brake callipers, pantographs, general valve component refurbishment all in accordance with the relevant drawings, task instructions, HSE requirements, Quality requirements, and test specifications/procedures.
- Record all outcomes and sign/date all appropriate task and test specific documentation, during and at the completion of testing of finished assemblies/products.
- Identify all products tested to indicate tested status, i.e., Batch No. and Serial Number stamped on body or product, after passing all tests.
- Promptly advise the Lead Service Technician of any inaccuracies in Test Specifications and Drawings, or problems being experienced in achieving the desired outcomes and results.
- Promptly advise the Lead Service Technician of the non-conformance of any components, tooling or equipment considered to be unsuitable for assembly and/or service.
- Recommend to the Lead Service Technician via a design change request form, product design changes if these are thought to improve quality or performance of the product.
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies:
- Mechanical Trade or Diploma in Engineering or equivalent Trade.
- Five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Light Automotive mechanic experience, highly desirable.
- Overhaul, repair & testing of mechanical components using all types of hand, electric & pneumatic tools.
- Previous Rollingstock maintenance experience, particularly locomotive, passenger & freight pneumatic & electro pneumatic braking systems.
- High level of pneumatic & hydraulic systems knowledge & accuracy of documentation including critical measurements & reports.
- High level of knowledge with respect to overhaul, repairing & testing of our components / products.
- High level of air compressor knowledge-reciprocating & screw type.
Accountability & Authority:
- Taking responsibility for Quality and Improvement.
- Adhere to business policies and procedures.
- To continuously improve processes within scope of work and area of responsibility.
- Confirm to quality specifications for products/services.
- Adhere to quality objectives and targets.
- Report all issues through the RFA (Request for Action) system; and complete actions required.
- Ensure the review and analysis of data and information as input to improvement activities.
- Willingness in the use of tools and processes, creativity and innovation to enable continuous improvement; and
- Participate in internal and external audits to ensure conformance with the responsibilities stated above.
Additional requirements:
- Will be expected to undergo a Rail CAT 3 pre-employment medical with LAB Drugs & Alcohol Screening.
- Will have to complete an Australian Police Check.
- Have fulltime unlimited Australian working rights.
- HRW Work LF Forklift License & RIW Card Highly Desirable.
- The business is subject to the public health order requirements which are released of changed from time to time.
What Is On Offer?
